Sound artist, experimental videographer and photographer,
Alain Wergifosse explores every possible interaction between sound, light and matter in space-time.
His work is most often presented in the form of interactive and contextual immersive installations or in the form of sound and/or visual performances.
Insatiable explorer of sound, image and the media since the early 80s, Alain Wergifosse amplifies all kinds of resonant objects and specializes in the electronic processing of feedback to achieve his organic compositions and improvisations. He has traveled the world solo and with various groups and collective projects (Obmuz, Macromassa, SpecOp, Colectivo Anatomic among others).
From his base in Barcelona, he composed, during ten years, the music and sound interactions for the mechatronic shows of Marcel lí Antúnez (ex La Fura dels Baus) and he collaborated with many artists of the experimental music scene like Eli Gras, Nad Spiro, Joan Saura, Enric Cervera, Hiroshi Kobayashi, Martin Hug including few short sonic encounters with well known names like Zbigniew Karkowski, Roedelius, Jaki Liebezeit, and Francisco Lopez in places like SONAR, LEM, Batofar, La Villette, SonoTone, Abaixadors 10, Fundació Mirò, Die Eimer, Stubnitz, Rhiz, Hoerbar and many others…
In recent years, back in Belgium, he has developed his visual work and produced many immersive and interactive installations, self-generative videos, microscopies and other materialist compositions, often developped in series like SPECTRES & NEONS, EROSIONS & MICROSCOPIES, MORPHEMES & MUTAPHORES, RETINAL MUSIC, MIGRAINES, GENO-TYPO, … presented in several festivals and international events (City Sonic, MEM, Kikk, Semaine du Son, Simultan, Transnumeriques, Pléiades…).
